heartbreaking
A kind police officer came to my house around 2:00 p.m. yesterday to take my statement and have a look around the "crime scene". She was helpful, talked to some neighbours, wrote a report, and told me to look for suspicious activity in the area. After she left I took a trip down 17th Ave. SE to visit the many pawn shops around. I figured if the thief was desperate for money and not too bright that I may find my stuff at the nearest vendor. Many had golf clubs and bikes. None had my golf clubs or my bike.
My mom is going to call the insurance company today. I dread the news, but I'm sure the deductible will be around $500. They'll probably take it out of the compensation amount. The remaining question for me is whether or not the insurance will provide us with the full value of the items taken.
Kona Cindercone - $1050
Venus helmet - $54.99
Specialized saddle - $84.99
Ping hoofer golf bag - $120
Ping Beryllium golf clubs - $1200
Mom's bike - $160
Total - $2669.98
I don't want a new bike. I want my bike. I love my bike. The seat had never even been used. I put it on the night the bike was taken. It's probably the reason the garage door was left open. I was careless. I'll forever regret not borrowing an allen key from the salesperson at Bow Cycle. The golf bag was a Christmas gift one year. The golf clubs my 18th birthday present. I had a hole in one with that 9 - iron on #2 at Inglewood. They are irreplaceable. So are the Alreds woods I had in my bag. There was a time I could do anything with that 7 wood... which was also a Christmas gift.
Every person riding a bike is riding my bike. At least until I get up close enough to see it's just some crappy Norco. It's heartbreaking. I'm going to start stalking the kids in my neighbourhood. I'm already have delusional fantasies about them riding around after dark, laughing at the dumb girl whose stuff they got. Sigh. The only thing to do is make up my "stolen bike" posters and visit some stores in Calgary to see if anyone's trying to sell my stuff.
