Since I found the best cell phone ever, I've been to Thailand, drank for 7 days straight, celebrated the birth of a 2400 year old deity without setting anyone on fire, and fretted about my employment status. If anyone has a job to offer, particularly one that allows me to clear $2500 Canadian a month and involves a ticket out of Gumi City, feel free to recruit me. For the details on how I got to this point, see Toby's blog and our Korea log.

Returned to Gumi from a fabulous, but too short, trip to Thailand. Toby and I went to Pattaya and Bangkok, with a Korean tour group. It's interesting/depressing to note that the first meal consumed by our group on our package vacation was in a Korean restaurant, but that's what geographical isolation does to you, I guess. From that point, Toby and I bailed on the free meals if they weren't Thai food. That's half the reason we went to Thailand! The other half was the beach. I digress.

Got a cab home from the bus station, happily discovered the locks on our apartment had not been changed, unpacked a bit, waited for Toby to shower, and headed out to Psycho, the local ex-pat pub to see if anyone was around. Told our tale of triumph and woe to our fellow teachers, found out that our boss had been fired from a managerial position at a Hagwon sometime before she opened her own. It's amazing the things you find out when you talk about work. Proceeded to drown our sorrows in hite, went home around 2 am, and decided to call Jane (our director) sometime the next day.

And so the limbo begins.
